A few weeks ago, I noticed that the New Tactics project was mentioned in the Think About It blog. The post was written by Sylwia Presley who writes about many interesting things having to do with development, social media and activism. She first heard about the New Tactics project from a few mutual friends at Global Voices. She was excited about it and decided to write a post on New Tactics. I thought I would contact Sylwia to thank her for writing such a thoughtful post about our project, and to my surprise, she responded to my email by requesting an interview with me! I'm definitely not used to being interviewed, but who can pass up the opportunity to talk to someone interested in your work? So we set up a time to talk and the rest is history. You can read some Q and A's that Sylwia and I emailed back and forth, and you can listen to the full audio interview here:
It was so much fun to be interviewed on the phone (she was in London and I am in Minnesota) and have the audio be live in just seconds! She used a free service called iPadio. This was all such great timing because New Tactics had already started a new project of interviewing human rights activists. We're hoping to continue making it easier for activists to share their experiences and challenges by interviewing them. We also want to continue finding new ways to honor and sustain human rights work. We hope that we're on the right path! Our first two New Tactics interviews (by our intern, Sadie) are:
- Understanding Advocates: An Audio Interview with Joy Nelson
- Understanding Advocates: An Audio Interview with Mary Ellingen
Thank you, Sylwia, for taking the time to talk with me and for introducing us to iPadio!

thank you
Thank you ever so much for your time and answers! I am happy you find iPadio a useful tool. I saw it used by Oxfam GB during Haiti crisis - since then I use it all the time. They are also very responsive on Twitter (@ipadio) if you have any problems, just ask them there;)
